Stampin’ Up! All Wired Up Hey Chick Fun Fold Card

Card Measurements and Supply List for this project are found at the bottom of this blog post.

I’ve wanted to make this fun fold for awhile but with my broken arm I haven’t been brave enough to try it until now. Before I injured my right arm I was planning a focus on using the awesome Stamparatus positioning tool and using the background cling stamp All Wired Up with the Hey Chick bundle. I modified this basic fun fold design – making the inner flap card smaller so more of the stamped chicken wire shows when the card is tied closed.

Start with an Early Espresso cs card base. Cut a Very Vanilla cs panel and a In Good Taste DSP panel. Using the Stamparatus stamp the Very Vanilla cs panel with the All Wired Up cling stamp with Basic Gray ink. Instead of using the magnets to hold the panel in place I used a small amount of Stampin’ Seal on the back and lessened it’s stickiness by rubbing it on my jeans and then placed it on the Stamparatus. Glue the stamped Very Vanilla cs panel to the front of the card base flap and the In Good Taste DSP panel to the inside of the front flap.

Cut the In Good Taste DSP inner flap card base. Glue the back of the inner flap card base to the center of the inside card base so that the front folds over the main card front flap. Die cut a Cherry Cobbler cs and an Early Espresso cs scalloped circles with the Layering Circle Dies. Die cut two Vellum cs chicken wire pieces with the Chick Dies. Die cut a Cherry Cobbler cs hen house with the Chick Dies. Die cut a Very Vanilla cs circle with the Chick Dies.

Stamp the chicken image from the Hey Chick stamp set in Memento Black ink on the die cut Very Vanilla cs circle. Color the chicken with the Stampin’ Blends. Glue the stamped & colored Very Vanilla cs circle to the Cherry Cobbler cs scalloped circle. Cut a piece of Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim (about 21″), lay it across the front of the In Good Taste DSP inner card front and then add the circles to the front of the In Good Taste DSP inner card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals (be sure you don’t add the Dimensionals in the middle) so they overlap the trim. Stamp the other chicken from the Hey, Chick stamp set on Very Vanilla cs in Memento Black ink, color with the Stampin’ Blends, and die cut with the Chick Dies. Glue a Vellum cs chicken wire piece across the Early Espresso cs scalloped circle and then add the die cut chicken with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the scalloped circle overlapping the Vellum cs chicken wire. Glue the scalloped circle to the inside of the In Good Taste DSP inner card front. Cut the second Vellum cs chicken wire piece in half with paper snips, glue it to the back of the die cut hen house, and then add them to the bottom of the inside flap of the card base.

Cut a Very Vanilla cs sentiment banner and an Early Espresso cs sentiment banner layer. Stamp the sentiment from the Hey, Chick stamp set in Memento Black ink on the Very Vanilla cs sentiment banner and use paper snips to flag the end. Glue the Very Vanilla cs sentiment banner to the Early Espresso cs sentiment banner layer and then flag the sentiment banner layer. Use glue dots and a Stampin’ Dimensional to add the sentiment banner to the front of the of the In Good Taste DSP inner card base overlapping the scalloped circle just below the threaded through Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim. Add Wink of Stella to both stamped chickens for sparkle and Matte Black Dots to the card base and to the front of the In Good Taste DSP inner card base. And then tie the trim in a bow to close the card.

Don’t forget to add a Very Vanilla cs inside panel of the In Good Taste DSP inner card base to write your message. I added the sentiment and egg image (colored with Stampin’ Blends & Wink of Stella) from the Hey, Chick stamp set in Memento black ink and a strip of DSP to the inside and back of the card to pull theme through.

When I use the Stamparatus for smaller paper pieces or want complete image coverage instead of using the magnets I use a small amount of Stampin’ Seal on the back of the cardstock that I’ve made less sticky by rubbing it across my jeans – so it holds the cardstock in place to stamp but not so sticky that it rips the cardstock when you remove it from the Stamparatus.
