Perennial Lavender DSP Sketched Butterflies Card

Card Measurements and Supply List for this project are found at the bottom of this blog post.

For this week’s Global Design Project CASE the designer challenge we’re CASEing a lovely card from the fabulous Rose Marie Coleman! I used the gorgeous Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper and the beautiful Sketched Butterflies bundle. I used a window sheet (acetate) panel instead of vellum for my see-through piece. I stamped & die cut the butterfly image twice so you can see the butterfly from the other side when the card is open and also added Designer Series Paper panels to the back side of the front panel.

This is what the card looks like opened.

Start with a Fresh Freesia cardstock card base. Cut the front panel of the card base down to 2″ creating a front flap. Cut a Window Sheet (acetate) panel and use Stampin’ Seal (applied to the back of the front panel flap) to add the Window Sheet panel to the card base (making sure that the bottom of the Window Sheet panel is flush with the bottom edge of the back panel of the card base. Cut a Fresh Freesia cardstock bottom front panel and use Stampin’ Seal to add it to the bottom of the Window Sheet panel making sure the bottom edges are flush.

Cut all five of the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper panels (the two front card base panels & the middle inside panel and the two back of the front card base panels). Use glue to add the panels to the card base (put aside the middle inside panel for later). Wrap the top part of the card base with White Frayed Grosgrain ribbon tying it in a knot on the left side of the card front.

Stamp the large butterfly from the Sketched Butterflies stamp set in Memento Black ink on Basic White cardstock twice. Die cut out the butterflies with the Sketched Butterflies dies. Use paper snips to trim around the butterflies. Color the butterflies with Stampin’ Blends. Glue the two die cut & colored butterflies back to back. The images won’t match perfectly so be sure to color to the edges of the images so it will be hard to tell. Use glue dots (on the right tip and left sides) of the doubled butterfly to add it to the right side of the card front bridging the Window Sheet panel and the top & bottom Designer Series Paper panels. Add Wink of Stella to the die cut butterfly and the butterflies on the Designer Series Paper panels for sparkle.

Die cut a Basic White cardstock sentiment banner with the Stylish Shapes dies. Stamp the sentiment from the Simply Said stamp set in Memento Black ink on the banner. Shorten the banner by laying the die from the Stylish Shapes dies back across the die cut banner to give it a matching stitched end. Use glue dots and cut to size strip of Stampin’ Dimensional to add the sentiment banner to the top right side of the card front overlapping the ribbon. Add Purple Fine Shimmer Gems to the card front for extra sparkle.

Add a Basic White cardstock inside panel to write your message. Add the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper panel to the center of the inside panel making sure that it lined up with remaining see-through part of the card front (so that you can’t see the white panel when the card is closed). Stamp the sentiment from the Simply Said stamp set in Memento Black ink to the bottom of the inside panel.

I added the Stampin’ Up! copyright stamp from the Stamped With Love stamp set to adhere to the Angel Policy.

I added a strip of the Designer Series Paper, stamped the small butterflies from the Sketched Butterflies stamp set and the sentiment from the Simply Said stamp set in Memento Black ink on the back of the card to pull the theme through.

I hope you enjoyed my #GDP542 Perennial Lavender DSP Sketched Butterflies card. You can order the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper, the Window Sheets, the Sketched Butterflies bundle, and the Simply Said stamp set in my Online Store.
