Designer Series Paper Mini Journal Cards

Scrolling on Instagram I found a fabulous Designer Series Paper mini journal reel from Bea Valint (https://www.instagram.com/p/C22VJxrI6Ip/) that inspired me to modify her design and create a smaller version that would fit into a standard envelope. I don’t have a lot of experience making mini journals but had to give it a try and was very pleased with the results. The Nature’s Sweetness Specialty Designer Series Paper is gorgeous and I thought would make beautiful mini journals with the Love This Moment stamp set. I also created a second mini journal using the Perennial Lavender Designer Series paper that used the same measurements. I’ve included my project sketch and the project measurements below after the my video instead of at the very bottom and the supply list after the pictures of each project.

I used the Nature’s Sweetness Specialty Designer Series Paper during my Facebook Live of this project. You can watch my video on Facebook here or on my YouTube channel below.

I created the front pocket with the piece of Nature’s Sweetness Specialty Designer Series Paper I cut off from the 12″ x 12 ” Specialty Designer Series Paper sheet I used for the base. When you make your pull out card be sure that it doesn’t fit too snuggly so it is easy to slide in and out.

I created the pullout card by stapling the ribbon to the side of the Basic White cardstock card and covering the staple & ribbon with a strip of Specialty Designer Series Paper. I stamped the sentiment from the Lovely & Sweet stamp set in Pecan Pie ink.

I decorated the Basic White cardstock tags with panels of another pattern sheet from the Nature’s Sweetness Specialty Designer Series Paper pack and strips from the pattern sheet I used when I made the base. I glued the Designer Series Paper panels & strip to cover the stapled ribbon, like I did with the front pocket pull out card.

For the Basic White cardstock journal pages I used the Love This Moment stamp set to stamp the lines & sentiment in Pecan Pie ink. I stamped the flower & leaves image and coco & leaves image from the Lovely & Sweet stamp set on Basic White cardstock in Pecan Pie ink. I colored the images with Stampin’ Blends, fussy cut the colored images with paper snips, and then glued them to the journal pages. I also added strips of the Specialty Designer Series Paper to the journal pages to pull the theme through.

Be sure to attach your extra 1″ circles of Specialty Designer Series Paper to the flaps as enforcers before punching the holes. Don’t attach your brad too tightly so that it is easy to loop your Baker’s Twine. And remember to not pull the Baker’s Twine too tightly to avoid tearing through your flaps.

*Will also need a hole punch, a stapler, and a 1″ circle punch.

On the other journal page I fussy cut out flowers and butterflies from the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper and glued it to the top of the journal page.
